I had a wonderful meeting with Penny Yountz of PROedge Precision (Machining) which makes precision components for Aerospace, Medical, Defense, and Commercial fields.  Jeff Eidson of G&B Energy in Elkin is a partner in this business located in Statesville, NC (about 30 minutes South of Elkin on I-77).  Penny said that the company would be interested in providing internships for at least two of our scholarship recipients next summer.  The interns would be paid, and the pay would depend on whether they had experience or training in the fields they are interested in.  Recall that some students take tech courses at Surry Community College while in high school.  PROedge is interested in students who are going into CNC Machining and Quality Control.  Penny said she would also be interested in participating in a Job Fair at EHS to inform students of the career opportunities with the company.  A job fair of this type might encourage more students to go into these fields when they see the pay and benefits for jobs in such high demand.

Here are links to the the PROedge website and Facebook sites.

I look forward to our mutually beneficial relationship with PROedge Machining.
